چکیده
Investigating the relation between artificial intelligence, robots and unemployment on a panel of 33 OECD countries covering 2005—2017 period, we find that 10% increase in stock industrial is associated with 0.42 point rate. For intelligence (AI), use patents as proxy AI-related technological capabilities positive correlation aggregated rate, albeit statistically weaker than one found for robots. We then run regressions rates differentiated by education age, observe highly heterogeneous effects groups. example, effect 2.5 times greater 25-34 year-olds below upper secondary levels 55-64 year-olds tertiary degree. Lastly, strongest rate people medium level education, providing some evidence could contribute to polarization labor market. A similar AI, but results are less robust robots.JEL CODES: J23, J24, O33

متن کامل‘ Wage Rigidity and Unemployment in OECD Countries ’
Econometric investigations of individual countries’ experiences with inflation and unemployment in the 1970’s have shown that it is no longer sufficient to simply assume that wages are sticky in order to explain observed macroeconomic phenomena and make policy recommendations. A number of theoretical papers appearing in the last few years, motivated in part by the international econometric comp...

Using panel data for 24 (OECD) countries during the period 1980–2004 this study examines how social trust affects fertility. The major finding through the random effects approach is that the social trust increases the fertility rate. A 1% rise in the trust rate leads to an increase in fertility by 0.01 points. The results presented here suggest that in developed countries, trust underlies the d...
متن کاملIn Search of the Effects of Competition on Unemployment: Evidence from OECD Countries
This paper explores the empirical relationship between unemployment rate and product market competition in eighteen OECD countries through three sets of quantitative analyses. We find that the effect of competition on employment depends on the existing competition intensity and the relationship between the unemployment and competition appears to be inverted-N shape—in countries where existing c...

We analyse also whether the degree of labor market integration can influence migration. The integration of immigrants into the labor market is a recurrence theme in the work on the economic consequences of immigration. However, to our knowledge, no researchers...
